The study of the American Landscape in New York City, Chicago, Washington, Virginia and Arizona with a group of 25 artists, (landscape) architects, scientists, philosophers, historians and writers in september 2007 has materialized in the 928 page, 6000 image publication ‘Reading The American Landscape’.

Published by NAi Publishers in Rotterdam (NL) in both English and Dutch, designed by Irma Boom, image editing done by myself, this book with 8 different covers includes texts by Erik de Jong, Timothy Davis, David Schuyler, Lex ter Braak, Hanneke Schreiber, Michael van Gessel a.o. and contributions by artists like Erik Odijk, Sanne Peper, Voebe de Gruyter and Ester van der Wiel.

The publication also includes my 2008 photowork ‘Volume’.

Photography from China and The Netherlands is on show at the Three Shadows Gallery in Beijing, China. Curated by Bas Vroege (Paradox, NL) and Stephanie Tung (Three Shadows Gallery, CN).
The exhibition includes artists Gerald van der Kaap, Jacqueline Hassink, WassinkLundgren, Jin Jiangbo, Chen Xiao, Zhao Liang, and others.
A selection of 7 of my photoworks is exhibited around the theme of shared responsibility for the highly complex, culturally, economically and socially interrelated, globalised consumption driven world we are living in.

The exhibition runs until january 28, 2010, after which it will be travelling to Shanghai in spring 2010 to be exhibited at the new DCC (Dutch Cultural Center) during the World Exhibition Shanghai 2010, and the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou in summer 2010.

Dutch Embassy In Brussels, Belgium

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commissioned 7 artists to create new site specific artworks in the new Dutch Embassy in Brussels, Belgium.
Artists include Koen Vermeule, Gerco de Ruijter and myself. My personal focus within this project will be the inclusion of the space itself in the eventual photographic presentation. Right now I’m in the middle of the design phase of   read more >

At the moment I’m planning the coöperation as an instructor with the Tasmena team in Dubai (UAE).
Tasmena organises MENAlab1, a platform and laboratory for experimentation at the intersection of design and research, focussing on the recent changes in Dubai concerning identity and economic challenges. Intensive 5 day workshops will bring together multidisciplinary professionals and will focus on 4 specific areas in Dubai: Al Quoz, Satwa, Business Bay and Dubai Creek.

MENAlab1 will take place in february 2010.
